Strong Thunderstorm Advisory for Adams and Scioto Counties

Residents in Adams and Scioto counties should be aware of a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Wilmington, OH. A strong thunderstorm was detected near West Union, moving east at 20 mph, as of 3:58 PM EDT today, September 20.

The NWS advises that this storm could bring wind gusts up to 45 mph and half-inch hail. Potential impacts include downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around by gusty winds. Minor damage to vegetation from hail is also possible.

If you are outdoors, the NWS recommends seeking shelter inside a sturdy building. The affected areas include West Union, Peebles, Seaman, Lucasville, Blue Creek, Rarden, Otway, Lombardsville, Dunkinsville, Wamsley, Mcdermott, Mount Joy, Cedar Mills, and West Portsmouth.
