Steven "Stevie" Parrott, who spent most of his life as a familiar presence in Boston's South End and South Boston neighborhoods, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2026, in Quincy at the age of 67. Though not a West Roxbury resident, his life story, marked by community support and personal connections, resonates with the values of our local neighborhoods.

Parrott's family expressed gratitude for the support he received throughout his life, particularly highlighting the "unconditional love" from the Foley and Flynn families he befriended at J.J. Foley's Cafe. These relationships, they noted, made his "difficult life infinitely better." The family also acknowledged the Veterans Affairs and various programs that sustained him for much of his adult life.

Steven Parrott was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Terry Parrott. He is survived by his brother Gregory Timothy Parrott, and his sisters Susan Parrott Rockwood (Brahm), Catherine Parrott Thurston, and Judith Parrott Papineau (Mark), along with many nieces and nephews.

A gathering to honor and remember Steven's life will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, located at 1305 Highland Avenue in Needham, MA. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Father Bill's & Mainspring at 39 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169, or to a charity of one's choosing.

His family shared that Steven's sudden passing serves as a reminder to stay connected with loved ones and to appreciate each day spent together. They stated, "We will love and miss him forever."
