4-Year-Old Georgia Girl Found Dead in Water-Filled Trash Can

A 4-year-old Georgia girl died over the weekend after authorities found her unresponsive in a trash can filled with water and fish. Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Macon home around 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024. The girl's father told deputies he arrived home and discovered his daughter, Jayde Wooten, missing from her bedroom. He alerted the child's mother, who said Jayde had been eating in the kitchen and fell asleep.

The father searched the house and asked neighbors for help. He then heard the mother scream and found Jayde upside down in a large, water-filled trash can containing fish in a bathroom. The father removed the child from the container and carried her outside. Responding deputies observed puddles of water leading from the bathroom to the front door and noted the trash can inside the restroom.

Neighbors began CPR before first responders arrived. Jayde was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
