West Melbourne Building Permits Now Online Only

West Melbourne residents and contractors now apply for building permits exclusively online. The City of West Melbourne began accepting all applications through its new digital portal on March 5, 2024.

The online system aims to simplify the application process for construction and renovation projects. Applicants can access the portal via a link on the city’s website. For questions about permit applications or to obtain associated web pins, email [email protected].

Contractor Registration Updated

The city also updated its contractor and sub-contractor registration requirements. All currently unregistered contractors and sub-contractors must complete the online registration process. This includes submitting forms for Contractor/Private Provider Registration, Sub-Contractor Registration, and Sub-Contractor Authorization.

Submit supporting documentation for registration to [email protected]. Required documents include a copy of the Florida state license and/or County Competency Card, a Business Tax Receipt (BTR) or local license, a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) for workers' compensation listing the City of West Melbourne as certificate holder (or a current workers’ comp exemption certificate), and a current COI for general liability insurance listing the City of West Melbourne as certificate holder.

The new online system and updated registration protocols aim to improve efficiency and accessibility for all parties involved in building and development in West Melbourne.
