A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Jefferson, Wayne, Perry, Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Williamson, Saline, Union, Johnson, Pope, Alexander, Pulaski, Massac Counties in Illinois; Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Ballard, McCracken, Graves, Livingston, Marshall, Calloway Counties in Kentucky; and Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Wayne, Carter, Ripley, Butler, Stoddard, Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid Counties in Missouri. The National Weather Service in Paducah, KY, issued the statement today, October 12, at 1:33 PM CDT.

Residents are advised to take heat safety measures due to expected heat index values in the upper 90s to lower 100s on Tuesday afternoon, October 13. This is a result of record-high temperatures combined with elevated humidity levels.

Those planning to be outdoors for extended periods on Tuesday should stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations. The Special Weather Statement is effective from October 12, 2026, 1:33 PM UTC, and expires October 13, 2026, 5:00 AM UTC.
