Cities Helping Cities May 20, 2025 As our friends at Kentucky League of Cities say, we are about “cities helping cities.” The City of Richmond stands with our neighbors who were affected by the recent storms. RKY has provided assistance to these areas and is ready to further support recovery efforts.  Many city personnel responded immediately to the emergency to offer a helping hand. We recognize the actions of Richmond Police officers, Richmond Firefighters, and Madison County EMS personnel who took action to help others, as is their nature to do so. They do not respond for attention, but we are grateful they are part of Team RKY. Recycling Department Director Aaron Vaughn has a personal connection to one of the areas impacted by the recent tornadoes-- his parents live in London, Kentucky. Vaughn requested to collect disaster relief items at the Richmond Recycling Center for three days, load the items on a truck and personally drive the items to London for distribution to those in need. His request was granted immediately. People wishing to make donations at the Richmond Recycling Center at 550 Recycle Drive are asked to bring the following:  baby food in jars, diapers, baby wipes, paper products, toiletries, blankets, and non-perishable items. There is no need for bottled water or clothing items. The Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund can be found here:  https://secure.kentucky.gov/formservices/Finance/stormrelief/ The Richmond Register published several local donation locations:  https://www.richmondregister.com/news/madison-county-lending-helping-hand-to-tornado-victims-heres-where-you-can-donate/article_951d2b90-8220-4597-8872-d92e1e12e465.html Thank you for your generosity.
