Office of Community Revitalization To Host 2026 Dog Day Fall Festival - Heart & Paws Celebration: Rescuing Pets, Strengthening Families Event

The Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) is proud to host the Heart Paw Celebration, a countywide community event taking place on Saturday, September 19th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at John Prince Park, Eric Call Pavilion, located at 2700 6th Avenue South, Lake Worth Beach. Hosted in collaboration with Parks & Recreation, Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Dog Days Palm Beach, 518 Pet Market Place, the Palm Beach Obedience Club and many other dedicated partners, this fun-filled event is free and open to the public. This family-friendly event is designed to promote pet adoption, health and wellness, and community connection. Families and pet lovers are encouraged to bring both their two-legged and four-legged members for a full day of meaningful activities. All dogs must be on a leash. The celebration will feature a pet adoption event where all adoption fees are waived. New pet parents will receive starter supplies. The celebration will bring together adoptable pets, rescue organizations, local vendors, food trucks and community resources for a full day of interactive activities for residents of all ages. Featured experiences include pet adoptions, an Adoption Runway and Fashion Show, dog contests, AKC Canine Good Citizen activities, the Books & Barks Reading Circle, Kindness Garden, Paw-Lates, family and youth activities, a Cooling Zone, photo opportunities, prizes, raffles and giveaways. To ensure everyone is well cared for, lunch will be provided for attendees free of charge while supplies last. This event reflects OCR’s commitment to strengthening families and building a more connected, compassionate community. By promoting pet adoption, encouraging wellness, and celebrating the dedication of our local heroes, the Heart Paw Celebration aims to make a lasting, paw-sitive impact. Palm Beach County Honors Overdose Awareness Day

Palm Beach County joined communities across the nation on August 31 in recognizing Overdose Awareness Day, honoring those whose lives have been impacted by overdose and addiction while shining a light on the hope, strength, and resilience found in recovery. At the HUB Community Resource Center in Belle Glade, Palm Beach County Mayor Sara Baxter presented a proclamation officially declaring August 31 as Overdose Awareness Day in Palm Beach County. Spearheaded by Palm Beach County’s Community Services Department and hosted by the dedicated team at the HUB, the gathering began with prayer and set a reflective tone for a day centered on remembrance, healing, and hope. The event featured several inspiring guest speakers, including Florida House Representative Meg Weinberger, Marcia Andrews of Palm Beach County School Board District 6, Belle Glade City Commissioner Tequilla Collins, and William Freeman, COE/Founder of People of Purpose. Speakers shared deeply personal stories of addiction, recovery, and resilience, reminding everyone that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community. The gathering concluded with a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence to honor and remember those lost to overdose and addiction. Overdose Awareness Day is both a time to remember and a call to action, to reduce stigma, support those seeking recovery, and remind individuals and families that help, hope, and healing are possible. Through community-based resources such as the HUB Community Recovery Center and the Community Services Department’s Behavioral Health & Substance Use Disorders Division, Palm Beach County remains committed to connecting residents with the support, resources, and services they need on their journey toward recovery.
