Sumter County Earns Rare Level 3 Safety Recognition
Sumter County earned the FMIT Safety Excellence Initiative Certificate of Safety Recognition – Level 3, placing it among only three Florida organizations to reach that tier.
Trevor Reschny, a certified safety professional and risk manager for the Florida League of Cities, presented the award. The county qualified by implementing comprehensive safety standards, documented training programs, employee evaluations, and continuous improvement efforts across all departments.
Nicholas Melington, Sumter County's Employee Services Manager, said the recognition reflects the county's workplace culture. "We want Sumter County to be a safe place to work," Melington said. "This achievement represents the dedication of our employees and leadership teams who prioritize safety every day."
The Board of County Commissioners congratulated all employees and safety personnel involved in earning the designation.
