ADA TITLE II ACCOMMODATIONS – NON-JUDICIAL MATTERS

ADA TITLE II ACCOMMODATIONS – NON-JUDICIAL MATTERS This ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Title II accommodation process is for individuals with disabilities who need assistance accessing Denton County's services, programs, activities or benefits. This process does not pertain to accommodations sought under Title I of the ADA (pertaining to hiring/employment practices). Please Note: The process described on this page does not apply to accommodation requests that concern judicial proceedings before a district or statutory county court. If your accommodation request concerns a judicial proceeding in either a district or statutory county court, please visit the ADA Title II Accommodations For Judicial Matters page. ACCOMMODATION REQUEST PROCESS Accommodation requests should be submitted as early as possible to ensure completion of the process in time for a scheduled event. To request an accommodation, complete Denton County's online ADA Title II Accommodation Request Form (Non-Judicial Matter) and submit as per the instructions. If you wish to submit your request in paper form instead, a printable form may be submitted by mail or in person to: Edward Leal Civil Service Manager/Title II ADA Coordinator for Non-Judicial Matters Denton County Human Resources Department 1 Courthouse Drive, Suite 1300 Denton, Texas 76208 [email protected] Denton County will provide appropriate assistance to persons with disabilities or who may be limited in their ability to communicate in English. In cases where the complainant is unable to complete the online or written accommodation request form, the request may be made verbally or by other appropriate means. To request this or other assistance, please contact the Title II ADA Coordinator for Non-Judicial Matters at (940) 349-3088. INITIAL REVIEW Within 15 calendar days after receipt, the ADA Coordinator for Non-Judicial Matters will review the accommodation request and may, if needed, contact the requestor to request additional information. Failure to respond in a timely manner to the Coordinator's request for additional information may result in administrative closure of the request. RESPONSE BY COUNTY Within 30 calendar days after receipt of the request, the ADA Coordinator for Non-Judicial Matters will provide a written response that notifies the individual whether the requested accommodation will be provided. The response will be delivered to the requestor by email or by mail as specified on the Accommodation Request Form. Please Note: These time limits are intended only as a general framework in which to address and respond to accommodation requests and may be extended by the ADA Coordinator for Non-Judicial Matters as necessary. The County will generally, upon request, provide the response in an alternative format (e.g. large print, Braille, audio tape, etc.) as appropriate. To request such assistance, please contact the ADA Coordinator at (940) 349-3088. COMPLAINT AFTER RESPONSE If you believe the County's response to your ADA Accommodation Request constitutes discrimination on the basis of disability in violation of Title II, you may submit a complaint as provided in the Denton County ADA Title II Complaint Process. To submit such a complaint, visit the ADA Title II Complaints For Non-Judicial Matters page and follow the applicable instructions. Please note: The ADA does not require Denton County to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
