A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Webster County, specifically impacting Preston, effective immediately until 7:30 AM UTC on October 10th. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA issued this warning at 11:19 PM EDT on October 9th, indicating severe conditions are imminent.

Residents should complete all preparations now. The NWS forecasts potential winds of 39 to 57 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, posing a threat of limited damage to property such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect many large tree limbs to break and scattered power outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are possible. Driving conditions will become hazardous.

Furthermore, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued. Significant tornado impacts could include extensive damage to homes and widespread power loss.
