U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will implement body cameras for its officers within the next two months. The agency's policy outlines conditions for releasing video footage captured by these devices.
The policy specifies that ICE will only make body camera footage public when the agency determines such release serves its "best interests." This provision establishes ICE's discretion in deciding which video recordings become accessible to the public.
Officers will begin using the cameras across various operations. The agency has not yet detailed specific scenarios that would meet the criteria for public release under its "best interests" clause.
