Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Wayne County Residents Seek Immediate Shelter
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for southeastern Wayne County until 7:30 PM CDT, with 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail expected; residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
WAYNE COUNTY, MS – Residents in southeastern Wayne County are urged to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued, effective now until 7:30 PM CDT.
The National Weather Service in Mobile, AL, issued the warning at 7:16 PM CDT. At that time, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of Clara, approximately 13 miles south of Waynesboro, moving south at 15 mph.
The primary hazards associated with this storm include 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail, according to radar indications. The NWS warns that these conditions could cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
This severe thunderstorm is expected to remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Wayne County.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. The warning expires at 7:30 PM CDT.
