Wildfires Erupt Across Western U.S., Canada

Firefighting crews are responding to new wildfires in the western United States and Canada. The National Interagency Fire Center reported 183 new wildfires since Saturday, August 5, 2026.

Among these new incidents, eight have grown to a substantial size. The U.S. Forest Service released a photo on Friday, August 7, 2026, showing the Widemouth 2 wildfire near Richfield, Utah. The image shows smoke plumes from the active fire.

This increase in fire activity follows a period of dry conditions in parts of the region. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the causes of these recent ignitions.
