A Heat Advisory has been issued for multiple Bay Area regions, effective from Saturday, October 2, at 11 AM PDT, until Monday, October 4, at 10 PM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco has issued this advisory due to expected temperatures in the mid-90s to near 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Mild overnight lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s in higher elevations will limit overnight recovery.
Affected areas include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
This level of heat can impact individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration. The NWS advises taking extra precautions when outdoors. Hydration is critical: drink water and, if possible, offer water to vulnerable individuals. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Seek immediate action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
