Drivers in San Francisco and surrounding coastal areas are advised to slow down and use headlights this morning due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA.

The advisory is in effect until 9:00 AM PDT today, October 8, 2026. Affected areas include San Francisco, Coastal North Bay (including Point Reyes National Seashore), San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay, Southern Monterey Bay, and Northern Salinas Valley/Hollister Valley and Carmel Valley.

Visibility is expected to be one-quarter mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions. The NWS recommends allowing extra drive time to reach your destination safely and maintaining plenty of distance from other vehicles.
