Watervliet administrator retires after 24 years, wins district leadership award

Kirsten DeMento, director of accountability and educational programs for Watervliet City School District, received an Excellence in District Administrative Leadership Award from the Capital Area School Development Association at an April 30 ceremony.

Superintendent Dr. Donald Stevens presented the award, citing DeMento's mentorship across her 24-year career. Stevens, whom DeMento mentored, said her "most meaningful contribution has been as a mentor—generously sharing her time, expertise, and guidance with colleagues across the District." DeMento retires this month.
