Denton Texas 76205William Craig Young age 71 transitioned on April 29, 2026 in his home in Detroit, Texas, surrounded by his wife and granddaughter Clara.Born to Thomas Young and Dimples Scruggs in Chicago, Illinois, on March 20, 1955. William spent his early years traveling to Oklahoma with his uncle Al and wife, Bernice. visiting his relatives and his grandpa, Papa Shang Young, whom he loved dearly.William's aunt, Mattie Brown, and family were instrumental in his upbringing, nurturing him in strong faith and fostering a relationship with God at an early age. Carolyn Creamer and Margie Banks were also instrumental in mothering William. William’s father, Thomas Young, along with his uncles, his older brother William Ray Young II, and his special cousin and best friend, Dwayne Earl Zarkoft Brown, instilled in him daily guidance and strong values.William attended Chicago Public School and continued his education at area colleges to pursue his engineering degree. He later furthered his education in other studies at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas.William was married at an early age under the command of his grandmother, Clara Scruggs. Four children were born into this unity: Miyoshi, Tamika, Cherie, and Alfred Young. William was young but devoted to caring for his family. Williams' time alone in silence with prayers and living alone led him to what he prayed for: the woman who is now his wife of 48 years all thanks to God and his sister, Toya. William Young IV was born into this unity. William was a caring and devoted dad to Cassu, Cadris, Terri, and Tori. He also fathered a child in his later years, Wesley Adams, whom he didn't get to know as well as he liked and wanted.Professionally, William held many management positions in various businesses and received several awards and certificates. William retired from Central Gulf Railroad, having held many positions in state and out-of-state field service railroad work.William and his family moved to Texas in the early nineties. He always wanted to be a rancher to see what country living would be like. He established a green acre farm, raising chickens, cows, emus, goats, horses, roosters and other common animals.William was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Young, and mother, Dimple Scruggs. Brother Thomas Young jr and daughter Cherie Young. Other loved ones he cared for were Minkus Simmons, Marcel O'Neal, Tori Washington jr, and William Caleb Young V.William is survived by his loving wife, Rebis, and sons William jr, Alfred, and Wesley. daughters Miyoshi and Tameka.Bonus sons special to him were Lil Bobby Williams, Brandon Blue, Craig Young, and special grandsons Malachi, Cadris jr, Montae, and Ryan. special granddaughters: Clara (whom he raised) Brittany, Dejah, Jada, Ava, laurielle and princess Taliyah.He is also survived by his extended family, who cherished him as a son and brother including his mother-in-law, Madea (Christine), and his brothers, Sunny, Ed, Diron, and Fee-Fee. sisters, Jackie, Pontee, and Kassie.He had twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He cherished the relationship he had with his longtime buddy and brother George Page. He loved his nephew William (Tuffy) Young. cousins James (shorty) Scruggs, Lincoln Scruggs, Michael Wafford and Ulysses Wafford.William enjoyed comradery with his friends, Bates, Clark, Herc, and Tim barbecuing, fishing and hunting.William will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
