Strong Storm Near Alma: Seek Shelter, Expect Gusty Winds & Flooding

Residents in Coffee, Bacon, and Northern Ware counties are advised to seek shelter indoors due to a strong thunderstorm identified by Doppler radar. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville, FL, issued a Special Weather Statement today, September 20, at 5:36 PM EDT, which remains effective until 6:15 PM EDT.

The storm, currently near Alma and moving southwest at 10 mph, presents two primary hazards: wind gusts of approximately 40 mph and minor flooding resulting from heavy rainfall. These conditions could lead to downed tree limbs, scattered unsecured objects, and localized flooding on roadways.

Affected areas include Alma, Dixie Union, and Bickley. If you are outdoors, the NWS recommends finding shelter inside a building. Due to the torrential rainfall, drivers should exercise extreme caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
