The Two-Second Pause That Gives You Your Day Back
You do not have to answer every request the moment it lands. One small pause can turn an automatic yes into a choice you actually mean.
Shakespeare’s Secret Weather Trick in Sonnet 18
“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” is one of poetry’s most famous openings—but the sonnet’s real surprise is that Shakespeare spends the poem arguing summer is not good enough. Here’s the small, brilliant turn that makes the whole thing last.

The Most Generous Thing You Can Give Someone Is Five Undivided Minutes

The Country Runs on Deadlines, Except Congress

View allHorry County's new Central Coast Complex is open to serve
Horry County’s Central Coast Complex is now open in Carolina Forest, bringing a wide range of County services closer to home for many. Residents can visit the new location to access the Assessor, Auditor and Treasurer offices, making it easier to take care of County business without traveling across the county. The complex also includes a satellite Clerk of Court office, Magistrate courtrooms and Probate Court offices. The facility is also the new, permanent home of the Horry County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct. Located at 332 Hinson Drive in Myrtle Beach, the Central Coast Complex is open to residents Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We ask for patience as systems and processes are brought online at the facility and apologize for any inconveniences as we work through the first few days of operations. A ceremonial ribbon cutting is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, marking the official celebration of this new resource for the community. We look forward to welcoming residents and providing convenience access to county services.
