Tropical Storm Warning for Coastal Wakulla: Evacuate if Ordered, Prepare for Flooding
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, with life-threatening storm surge, potential for significant flooding, and a tornado threat; residents should evacuate if ordered and complete flood preparations immediately.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 8, 2026, at 8:01 AM EDT. This warning remains in effect until 4:15 PM EDT.
Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of 4-6 feet above ground, with a window of concern from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed soon. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-20 mph with gusts to 35 mph), there is a potential for winds of 39-57 mph. Listen for instructions from local officials and ensure emergency readiness.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with additional rainfall of 2-4 inches expected. This could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a potential for several tornadoes; if a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
