Garbage and Recycling

Garbage and Recycling We coordinate garbage and yard waste collection for households with one to four units. We coordinate recycling for all households in Saint Paul. We also offer community drop-off sites for food scraps (organics). Help us create a cleaner and more sustainable Saint Paul. Quick Links - Find My Collection Day: Enter your address in our interactive map to find your collection day. - Report a Missed Collection: Learn about when and how to report a missed collection. - Fix or Replace My Cart: Complete our online request form for cart size change, repair or replacement. - Pay My Bill: View and pay your collection bill. - Moving?: Transfer or pause collection when moving or planning an extended absence. - Bulky Item & Mattress Collection: Sign up to get a mattress or other large item picked up from your curb. - Report Illegal Dumping: Submit our online form to report garbage dumped on public property. - Questions or Concerns?: Contact us via our online request form. We monitor inquiries Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reduce Your Waste Have an item you don't use anymore? Find local opportunities to repair, donate, or recycle it. Explore ways to reuse and reduce waste. Our Services Residential Collection You can place the following out for curbside collection: Garbage and Recycling. Visit our Residential Collection page to sign up for collection services, learn how to prepare for collection day, or report an issue. 2026 Collection Calendar: Holiday Delays & Every-other-Week Schedule included in 2026 Annual Guide. Bulky Item & Mattress Collection You can get a limited number of bulky items (too large to fit in your cart) picked up for no additional charge with your regular collection. You can have more bulky items collected for a fee. All households get unlimited free mattress collection through our mattress recycling program. Food Scraps & Yard Waste Food scraps (organics) and yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, branches) can be recycled into compost: Sign up for yard waste collection or bring it to a drop-off site. Get compostable bags for food scraps and bring full bags to a drop-off site. Turn yard waste and food scraps into compost in your own backyard. Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Many everyday items are dangerous if not disposed of safely. Common examples include house paint, batteries, motor oil, syringes, and medications. Hazardous waste cannot go in your garbage or recycling cart. Safe disposal protects people and our environment. Ramsey County collects hazardous waste at a year-round collection site and hosts seasonal collection events. Event Recycling & Composting Hosting an event in Saint Paul? We can provide containers for garbage, recycling, and food scraps. You can borrow containers at no cost for public and private events, including block parties, family reunions, and public events and festivals. Event organizers are responsible for disposing of any waste collected in these containers. Litter Cleanup Do you want to prevent and collect litter in your neighborhood? We offer many opportunities to get involved: Organize a cleanup event, Adopt-a-Block, Adopt-a-Container, Participate in a City or District Council cleanup. Join one of our Saint Paul Litter Programs, or explore other ways to volunteer. You supply the time, energy, and enthusiasm, we supply the rest.
