Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart Endorses Alex Rizo for State Senate District 39

U.S. Representative Mario Díaz-Balart has officially endorsed Hialeah Republican state Representative Alex Rizo in the race for State Senate District 39. Díaz-Balart, described as the longest-serving member of Florida’s congressional delegation, announced his support for Rizo, who is seeking the open Senate seat.

The endorsement comes as Rizo faces a two-candidate Republican primary for District 39. Díaz-Balart cited Rizo's commitment to conservative principles, including fiscal responsibility and lower taxes, as key reasons for his support. “He has been a true leader in this community and at the state level, and I look forward to working with him to further improve the lives of our constituents. Alex has my full support!” Díaz-Balart stated in the endorsement.

Rizo, who currently represents House District 112, has made tackling issues such as inflation and rising property insurance costs central to his campaign platform. His legislative experience as a state Representative is highlighted as a significant asset in his bid for the State Senate. The backing from a prominent congressman like Díaz-Balart is expected to bolster Rizo's campaign efforts within the district.

State Senate District 39 encompasses several communities in Miami-Dade County, including Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Miami Lakes, Miami Springs, Sweetwater, and Virginia Gardens. The district has a strong Republican lean, with 44.6% of voters registered as Republican compared to 21.5% Democrat. President Donald Trump carried the district by a significant margin in the 2024 election.
