Center Grove High School captured its first boys track and field state title with 60 points at the 108th Annual IHSAA State Finals held in Bloomington, topping Lawrence Central's 54 points and Warren Central's 42. The Trojans' Nick Stoner, a senior, dominated the sprints, setting state meet records in the 100 meters (10.66 seconds) and 200 meters (21.57 seconds). Teammate Austin Mudd, also a senior, swept the 1,600 meters (4:03.00) and 800 meters (1:49.25), powering Center Grove to its eleventh overall team championship.
Lawrence Central's 4x400 relay team — Tyrennzie Burgess (12), Marciellion Gardner (11), Anthony Shelman (11) and Deontre Gray (10) — etched a state meet record of 41.34 seconds, while other standouts included Shane Mikesky of Zionsville in the 110 hurdles (13.85, state record), Chris Giesting of Batesville in the 400 meters (47.33) and Nathan Mueller of East Noble in the 300 hurdles (38.24). Bloomington North broke the state meet record in the 4x800 relay, adding to the day's excitement. Fort Wayne Snider placed fourth with 32 points in the top 10 team standings.
The event drew a record 4,411 spectators to Bloomington's facilities, underscoring the growing passion for Indiana high school track amid fierce competition from schools across the state. These performances not only crowned champions but also rewrote the IHSAA boys track records book, highlighting the depth of talent in Hoosier athletics.
