Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up to 50 MPH Expected for Region

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the NWS for parts of Mississippi and Louisiana, effective Saturday, October 10, from 1 AM to 7 PM CDT, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, urging drivers of high-profile vehicles to use caution and residents to secure outdoor objects.

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, affecting portions of central and south Mississippi and northeast Louisiana. The advisory is effective from 1:00 AM CDT until 7:00 PM CDT on Saturday, October 10.

North winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected, with isolated gusts up to 50 mph possible. These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises all residents to use extra caution while driving.

Impacted areas include the Louisiana parishes of East Carroll, Madison, and Tensas, and Concordia. In Mississippi, affected counties are Bolivar, Sunflower, Leflore, Grenada, Carroll, Montgomery, Washington, Humphreys, Holmes, Issaquena, Sharkey, Yazoo, Madison, Warren, Hinds, Rankin, Claiborne, Copiah, Simpson, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Lincoln, and Lawrence.

Residents should secure any outdoor objects that could be blown around by strong winds. The NWS warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. The advisory was issued today, October 9, at 1:50 PM CDT.
