Extreme Heat Warning: Act Now to Stay Safe Through Thursday
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties from today until Thursday, with temperatures up to 105°F; residents must take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Residents across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. This warning is in effect from today, October 3, 2026, at 12:15 PM PDT, until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast and soaring as high as 105 degrees Fahrenheit in valley areas. The affected areas include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, Ojai Valley, Central Ventura County Valleys, Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, Los Angeles County Inland Coast (including Downtown Los Angeles), Western and Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Areas, Calabasas and Agoura Hills, Western and Eastern San Fernando Valley, Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Santa Susana Mountains, and Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley.
The NWS stresses that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Very hot temperatures may continue into the second week of October, potentially extending this warning.
