Residents across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast and up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit in valley areas.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued this warning at 8:31 PM PDT on October 7, 2026. It remains in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Affected areas include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, Ojai Valley, Central Ventura County Valleys, Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, Los Angeles County Inland Coast (including Downtown Los Angeles), Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Calabasas and Agoura Hills, Western San Fernando Valley, Eastern San Fernando Valley, Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Santa Susana Mountains, and Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley.

Heat-related illnesses significantly increase during extreme heat events. The NWS advises everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Very hot temperatures may persist into the second week of October, potentially requiring an extension of this warning.
