Former President Donald Trump made a statement regarding Iran on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump's comments followed public calls for his death during the final funeral ceremony for late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mourners chanted and raised their fists during the ceremony held at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, on Thursday, July 9, 2026. This public display occurred before Khamenei's burial, according to a photo released by Iran's Supreme Leader's office.
Trump's statement on Truth Social also came after U.S. officials requested that Iran issue a public declaration affirming the Strait of Hormuz was open for maritime traffic.
