Packages Up to 15.999 oz: Price tiers are: up to 4 oz; up to 8 oz; up to 12 oz; and up to 15.999 oz. Round up to the nearest tier: For example, if your package weighs 4.2 oz, you'll pay the 8-oz price. Items over 15.999 oz round up to 1 lb and pay pound-rate prices. Packages over 15.999 oz and up to 70 lbs: Maximum weight is 70 lbs. For items over 15.999 oz (which rounds up to 1 lb), rates are by the pound (lb), rounded up. For example, if your package weighs 8.3 lb, you will pay the 9-lb price. Maximum combined length and girth (girth is the distance around the thickest part) is 130 inches. Additional Package Fees: Double-check your package measurements and contents: You'll pay additional fees if you're shipping a package that is large and lightweight, has a nonstandard size, shape, or material, or has perishable items. Dimensional Weight: Dimensional (DIM) weight rates apply to large, lightweight packages. If your package is larger than 1 cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches): Multiply Length x Width x Height and divide by 139 to get the DIM weight in pounds. Any fraction of an inch must be rounded up to the next whole inch. For example, a measurement of 12.2 inches will be calculated as 13 inches. If the DIM weight is greater than the actual package weight, you'll need to pay the DIM weight price. If you omit or give inaccurate dimensions and/or don't pay the DIM weight rate (when it applies), you'll pay a dimension-noncompliance fee. Nonstandard Fee: You'll pay extra fees for sending nonstandard packages that are harder for USPS to process. Fees vary based on the length, volume, or characteristics: If your package is between 22 and 30 inches long: add $4.50; More than 30 inches long: add $10.00; More than 2 cubic feet (3,456 cubic inches): add $21.00; A nonstandard shape or material: add $4.00. Live Animal & Perishable Handling Fee: You'll pay an extra $7.50 handling fee for packages with live animals or other perishable items including live animals, food, and plants. HAZMAT Handling Fee: If you're sending Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), there is a $0.00 handling fee. Incorrectly labeled commercial shipments may be subject to a HAZMAT noncompliance fee. Mailing Restrictions & Prohibitions: There are specific regulations and standards for mailing restricted, prohibited, and hazardous materials, including cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. Shipping to a Military Post Office (APO/FPO/DPO): You'll pay domestic prices for packages shipped to a Military Post Office (APO/FPO/DPO), but these destinations require a customs form and have specific restrictions. For mailable items up to 70 lbs. Expected delivery in 2–5 days. Packages going to certain places (including Alaska, Hawaii, and offshore destinations), or containing hazardous materials or live animals may receive slower service.
