Valatie Voters to Decide $51.9M Budget, Elect Three School Board Members on May 19

Valatie school district residents will vote on a $51.9 million budget and elect three Board of Education members on May 19, 2026. Polls open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium.

The Board of Education approved the proposed $51,936,861 budget for the 2026-27 school year on April 21. The budget maintains K-12 instructional programs and support systems, according to district officials.

Three candidates are running for three open seats: Betsy Thorleifson, Kelly Firmbach and Christopher Scoville. Firmbach and Scoville currently serve on the board. Winners will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026.

The district website's Budget and Board of Education pages contain additional information. Paper copies of the budget newsletter will arrive in district mailboxes in the coming weeks.
