Staff Writer
June 11, 2026

Urbana School District is running six summer programs for students from incoming kindergarteners through high school seniors, with courses underway through August.

UMS Recapture, the largest program, serves current sixth through eighth graders at Urbana Middle School Monday through Thursday, June 8 through July 16. The program runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

See U Around Town enrolls current second through fourth graders at Dr. Williams Elementary through July 2 on the same Monday-Thursday schedule. Camp Invention, also for second through fourth graders, meets July 7-9 and July 13-14 at Yankee Ridge during the same daily hours.

Three transition programs help students prepare for new schools in August. Kindergarten Readiness Camp runs August 3-7 at Thomas Paine Elementary from 8 a.m. to noon for incoming kindergarteners. SGC AVID for All prepares current fifth graders for middle school, and Gear Up for Greatness helps current eighth graders transition to high school. Both programs meet August 3-7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their respective middle and high schools, with breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

All programs include breakfast and lunch. Details for UHS Summer School, which serves current ninth through twelfth graders, are forthcoming.

Parents should contact their child's school for enrollment information.
