Norma Lee Macy (Thomasson), 89, of Miami, OK, passed away on May 15, 2026.Norma was born on February 13, 1937, in Quapaw, Ok to Ellen Thomasson (Golden) and James Herman Thomasson. Norma spent her life caring for others through her work. She was a talented waitress and cook who owned several restaurants over the years. Together with her husband, Ted Macy, she managed the Vinita Country Club and local Coffee Shop, creating a warm and welcoming place for the community. The two were also avid bowlers and competed in many competitions, sharing countless memories both on and off the lanes. She later worked at Shangri-La for many years before joining Integris Hospital, where she served in the cafeteria until her retirement at the age of 76. Norma loved her work deeply and took pride in serving and taking care of people. Being forced into retirement due to back issues was a great disappointment to her, as she found joy and purpose in her daily interactions with others.Norma also found joy in the simple things that made life full. She loved feeding the birds and could spend hours watching them from her window. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, always 1,000-piece puzzles, because as she’d stubbornly say, she “wasn’t a baby.” She adored her dogs, who were constant companions and brought her comfort and happiness throughout her life. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. Norma was the caregiver of the family, the one who made sure everyone was loved, supported, and never went hungry. Her kindness, strength, and generosity shaped the lives of all who knew her.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen Neal and James Herman Thomasson; her husband, Ted Macy; her son, Ted Macy Jr.; her sisters, Dorothy Jean Thomasson and JoAnn Amey; and her brothers, Denny Hunicutt, James “Tommy” Thomasson, and Charles Thomasson.Norma is survived by her daughter, Linda McAuliff of the home; her brother, Steve Thomasson, and wife Terri of Bartlesville, OK; her sisters, Sharon Frazier and husband Phil of Broken Arrow, OK, Becki Burleson and husband Greg of Wyandotte, OK, Judy Wade and husband Donnie of Baxter Springs, KS, and Patty McAfee of Colorado; as well as several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She is survived by her grandchildren: Chris and Starla Martin of Miami, Ok; Jeremy and Shawna Macy of Grove, OK; Lori Birch of Miami, OK; Tiffany and Steve Willis of Broken Arrow, Ok; Dusty Macy and Lorrie of Miami, Ok; and Misty Clarke of Tulsa, OK. Her great-grandchildren include Derek, Samantha, Justice, Shyane, Cherokee, Jasmine, Jayden, Grayson, D.J., Riley, Braxton, and Damien. She was also blessed with ten great-great-grandchildren who brought her endless love and happiness.A funeral will be held at Hudson Creek Baptist Church, Fairland, OK, Wednesday May 20th at 2pm. Graveside service will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday before the service at Hudson Creek Baptist Church.   in Fairland, Ok.   The family wishes to thank Jenny with Integris Home Health and Maggy and Melissa with Integris Hospice Northeast for their compassion and kindness during her final days.
