A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Upson County, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City, GA, as of October 9 at 11:19 PM EDT. This severe warning impacts Thomaston and will remain active until October 10 at 7:30 AM UTC.

Residents should complete all preparations immediately. Winds are forecasted to reach 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Anticipate limited damage to property such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes, along with broken tree limbs and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should now be complete.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect an additional 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and localized inundation could occur in low-lying areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The NWS indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should seek safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly if issued. For more information on family emergency plans, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
