A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Bullock County, including Union Springs, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 7:10 PM CDT on October 8, 2026, and it remains in effect until 3:15 AM UTC on October 9, 2026.

Residents should move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Peak winds are forecast between 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Expect limited damage to property, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate flooding is anticipated, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and some roads may become impassable.

The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with a potential for a few intense tornadoes. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant tornado impacts, including considerable damage and power loss, are possible.
