A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Bullock County, including Union Springs, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 10:27 PM CDT on October 8. Residents should prepare for hazardous wind, moderate flooding, and the potential for several tornadoes. The warning is set to expire at 6:30 AM UTC on October 9.

Immediate action is advised. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Plan for winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for gusts up to 57 mph. Damage to unsecured items, tree limbs, and some power outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected and locally higher amounts. Moderate flooding is possible, potentially requiring evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is favorable for tornadoes. Listen for tornado watches and warnings. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. Manufactured homes or boats should relocate to safe shelter. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
