A Freeze Warning is in effect for Southern Trinity, Northeastern Interior Mendocino, and Northern Lake counties until 9:00 AM PDT today, October 12, 2026. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees Fahrenheit are expected.

Residents in affected areas, including Gravelly Valley Airport in Northern Lake, Round Valley (including Covelo) in Northeastern Interior Mendocino, and Hayfork Valley, Peanut, the Highway 36 corridor from Mad River to Forest Glen, and Ruth in Southern Trinity, should take immediate steps to protect tender plants from the cold.

The National Weather Service in Eureka, CA, issued this warning, stating that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The warning is active now and expires at 9:00 AM PDT this morning.
