A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Tuscaloosa, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:20 PM CDT by the National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL. The warning remains in effect until October 10 at 12:30 AM UTC. Residents should prepare for hazardous wind and significant flooding.

Wind speeds are expected to reach 15-25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, posing a potential for wind between 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, sheds, unanchored mobile homes, and large tree limbs is possible. Scattered power and communication outages are also anticipated. All remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Tuscaloosa could see an additional 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, leading to moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may overspill their banks, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Driving conditions will become hazardous, and some road closures are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Consider protective actions if you are in an area vulnerable to flooding.

The tornado threat is currently unfavorable, with tornadoes not expected. For more information and to prepare, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
