Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Graham, Pima, Pinal Counties Until 11 AM MST
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Graham, Pima, and Pinal counties until 11:00 AM MST, with residents urged to seek immediate shelter from 60 mph wind gusts and potential flash flooding.
Residents in southwestern Graham County, northeastern Pima County, and southeastern Pinal County are advised to seek immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service in Tucson. The warning is in effect from 10:09 AM MST until 11:00 AM MST today, September 29.
At 10:09 AM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, moving northeast at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing damaging 60 mph wind gusts, which may lead to damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include Mount Lemmon/Summerhaven, Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, Catalina State Park, Catalina Foothills, Redington, and Seven Falls.
The National Weather Service urges everyone in the affected areas to seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to flash flooding; do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms; seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.
