Join the Boston Harbor Ecosystem Network and scientists from MIT Sea Grant and UMass Amherst/Stone Living Lab for a field trip to Calf Pasture/UMass Boston on Tuesday June 9 to help monitor the invasive manila clam! Manila Clam Monitoring Field TripTuesday June 9, 2026 (Rain date: July 7)11:00am-1:00pmCalf Pasture/UMass BostonRSVP Here – Free Please RSVP here to join us for a field trip to Calf Pasture/UMass Boston (11:00AM-1:00PM) on Tuesday June 9! The rain date will be July 7. This is a free, hands-on, outdoor field trip with no attendee limit. We are tagging along with a team, led by Carolina Bastidas (MIT Sea Grant) and Aly Putnam (UMass Amherst/Stone Living Lab), that is conducting monthly intertidal monitoring of Manila clams (Ruditapes philippinarum) at Calf Pasture. Manila clams are not native to New England but have recently been observed in Boston Harbor and other locations around Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod. The monitoring will help answer emerging research questions about this species’ habitat preferences, reproduction, and growth in this region. No special gear is required except for clothing and shoes that can handle sun, wet conditions, dirt, and somewhat uneven terrain. More information about meeting place and transportation can be found on the RSVP form. Hope to see you at Calf Pasture/UMass Boston! >>Read More – On the Lookout for Non-Native Species: Investigating Manila Clams
