Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Craighead and Poinsett Counties

A strong thunderstorm with 50-55 mph wind gusts and half-inch hail is impacting Craighead and Poinsett counties until 11:45 PM CDT; residents should seek indoor shelter immediately.

Residents in Craighead and Poinsett counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm approaches. The National Weather Service in Memphis, TN, issued a Special Weather Statement at 11:10 PM CDT on September 21, effective until 11:45 PM CDT.

Doppler radar indicates a strong thunderstorm near Cash, or Bono, moving southeast at 15 mph. Hazards include wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half-inch hail. These conditions could lead to downed tree limbs, unsecured objects blowing around, and minor damage to vegetation.

Areas expected to be impacted include Jonesboro, Bono, Bay, Cash, Egypt, Pitts, Hergett, Apt, Herman, Valley View, Dryden, Dorothy, Risher, Winesburg, Gilkerson, Uno, Otwell, Cary, Herndon, and Bayou De View State Wildlife Management Area.

If you are outdoors in these areas, consider seeking shelter inside a building immediately.
