Red Flag Warning Issued for Wyoming: High Fire Danger Monday
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from Monday at 12:00 PM MDT until 6:00 PM MDT for parts of Wyoming, indicating high fire danger due to wind and low humidity.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Middle North Platte River Basin/Niobrara and Converse High Plains; North Laramie Range and Adjacent High Plains; North Laramie Valley/Shirley Basin; Ferris/Seminoe/Shirley Mountains; Central and West Carbon; North Snowy Range Foothills; Laramie Foothills and High Plains; and Bordeaux/Chugwater/Wheatland areas. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne, WY, issued the warning, which is in effect from 12:00 PM MDT on Monday, October 5, until 6:00 PM MDT on Monday, October 5.
Strong winds and low relative humidity are expected to create critical fire weather conditions. West winds are forecast between 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Relative humidity levels are predicted to be between 10 to 20 percent. These conditions mean that any fires that develop will spread rapidly.
Residents in the affected areas are advised that outdoor burning is not recommended during this period. Please exercise extreme caution with any potential ignition sources.
