A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of the region from Saturday, October 10th at 3:00 AM MDT, until Sunday, October 11th at 6:00 AM MDT, with gusts up to 55 mph expected; residents should secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving.
Residents across the Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, Tooele and Rush Valleys, Eastern Box Elder County, Northern Wasatch Front, Salt Lake Valley, Utah Valley, Cache Valley/Utah Portion, Wasatch Back, Bear Lake and Bear River Valley, and Sanpete Valley should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Salt Lake City has issued a Wind Advisory effective from Saturday, October 10th at 3:00 AM MDT, until Sunday, October 11th at 6:00 AM MDT.
South winds are expected to reach speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 55 mph. These winds will initially manifest as southwesterly downslope winds off favored terrain like the Oquirrhs on Saturday morning, becoming more widespread by late morning to early afternoon.
Impacts from these gusty winds include unsecured objects being blown around, and the possibility of localized power outages. The NWS advises that driving may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles and those towing trailers. Drivers should exercise extra caution.
All residents in the affected areas are urged to secure any outdoor objects to prevent damage or injury. Stay informed and prepare for these conditions.
