High Wind Warning Issued for Tooele and Rush Valleys Until 9 PM MDT
A High Wind Warning is in effect for Tooele and Rush Valleys until 9 PM MDT today, with gusts up to 65 mph expected, posing risks to property and making travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Residents in the Tooele and Rush Valleys are advised to secure loose outdoor objects and exercise extreme caution while driving as a High Wind Warning is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City has issued this warning until 9 PM MDT today, October 11.
South winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 65 mph. These conditions are particularly anticipated in terrain-favored locations such as South Mountain, and along I-80 near Lake Point and the north end of the Stansbury Mountains.
The NWS warns that these strong winds may move loose debris, damage property, and could lead to power outages. Travel is expected to be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers. Drivers should be prepared for sudden crosswinds on I-80 near Lake Point and west of Grantsville.
The public is urged to secure any outdoor items that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Motorists, particularly those in high-profile vehicles or with trailers, should use extra caution and consider altering travel plans if possible during this period.
