Titusville Mourns Community Servant Angel Luis Perez

Angel Luis Perez, a dedicated community member and family man, died Sept. 11, 2026, in Titusville. He was 78.

Born Jan. 9, 1948, in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Perez served in the United States Army. After his military service, he returned to St. Croix and founded the island's first youth baseball team, La Salsa. He aimed to teach young people teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.

Perez worked various jobs on St. Croix, including at the airport and as a driver. He later worked in maintenance for Brevard Public Schools, where colleagues valued his dependable nature and strong work ethic. He was known for his reliability.

He enjoyed following the Yankees and salsa music. Family and friends will remember his acts of kindness and welcoming demeanor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maximo and Aida Perez, and his wife of 53 years, Irene Perez, who died in 2024. He was also preceded in death by siblings Araceli, Reinaldo, Pedro and Roberto Bennett.

Perez is survived by his daughters, Wanda Rivera and Aida Fry; his son-in-law, Wilfredo Montalvo; and his grandchildren, Amalia Montes Williams, Jahaida Rodriguez and Angel Montes. He also leaves behind siblings Elizabeth, Carmelo, Dany, Benji and Esrael Bennett, along with many other relatives and friends.
