Strong Storms Bring 40 MPH Winds to Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Turner, Tift

Strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected in Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Turner, and Tift counties until 5:30 PM EDT. Seek shelter indoors if outside and avoid flooded roadways.

Residents in Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Turner, and Tift counties should prepare for strong thunderstorms currently tracking northeast at 15 mph. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 5:30 PM EDT today, October 3rd, 2026.

Doppler radar indicates wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible. This could lead to fallen tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around. Locations impacted include Sylvester, Leesburg, Tifton, Albany, Poulan, Ty Ty, and others listed below. If you are outdoors, immediately seek shelter inside a building.

Additionally, these storms are producing torrential rainfall, which may cause localized flooding. Drivers are advised not to drive through flooded roadways. The affected areas include Sylvester, Leesburg, Tifton, Albany, Poulan, Ty Ty, Unionville, East Albany, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Turner City, Phillipsburg, Terrell, Sumner, Warwick, Minton, Chokee, Stocks, Scooterville, Forrester, and Sylvester Airport.
