Daniel Ray Theriot, Jr. of Thibodaux Passes Away at 66

Thibodaux resident Daniel Ray Theriot, Jr., 66, passed away on September 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of public service and animal advocacy.

Thibodaux mourns the loss of Daniel Ray Theriot, Jr., who passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 66. A lifelong native and resident of Thibodaux, Mr. Theriot was known for his dedication to public service, his passion for animal welfare, and his meticulous hobbies.

Mr. Theriot retired from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office after 12 years of service as the Body Shop Supervisor. He held a deep affection for his colleagues, considering them part of his brotherhood. Beyond his professional life, Mr. Theriot was a fervent advocate for animal rescue, believing every animal deserved a loving home. He extended this belief by caring for four rescue dogs of his own.

Born on January 13, 1960, Mr. Theriot cultivated a life rich with diverse interests. He was the proud owner of two sports cars and a meticulous model train enthusiast, known for his attention to detail and precision. His love for music led him to teach himself to play the guitar. Those who knew him admired his patience, precision, and remarkable intelligence.

He is survived by his mother, Linda White Barbaro; his sister, Denise Theriot Braud and her husband Jude; and his godchild, Logan LeBlanc and his wife Tiffany. Mr. Theriot was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Theriot, Sr., and his stepfather, Frederick Barbaro.

Friends and family will gather to honor Mr. Theriot's life at Ordoyne Funeral Home, located at 1489 Saint Patrick Street in Thibodaux. Visitation will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the start of the Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. Following the service, burial will occur at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Daniel Ray Theriot, Jr.'s name to the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter. Online condolences are available through the Ordoyne Funeral Home website.
