Actions from the Sikeston City Council meeting held Monday, March 2, 2026, were: Mayor Greg Turnbow honored winners of the Anti-Littering Poster Contest. Winners were: 1st place - Livy-Gray Hammontree, 5th grade Sikeston Middle School ($100); 2nd place - Lucy Chapman, 2nd grade Lee Hunter Elementary ($75); 3rd place – Lo Chapman, 5th grade Sikeston Middle School ($50); Best Class – Sheri Jackson, Southeast Elementary ($100). Honorable mentions were: Kendall Oetting, 4th grade St. Francis Xavier; Charlie Wicker, 4th grade Southeast Elementary; Lana Gaab, 4th grade The Christian Academy. (Each honorable mention winner will receive a Malco Theater movie pass and a large pizza from Pizza Inn) Council approved the request to re-plat the subdivision of lots 1-3, 15 and 16 of block 4 of Sunset Addition, 100 Westgate in Sikeston for Hatchett Holdings, LLC. Tract 1, lot 3, Washington Street will revert to the city for ownership and maintenance. Council approved the request to vacate the alley within lots 1-3, 15 and 16 of block 4 of Sunset Addition, 100 Westgate in Sikeston for Hatchett Holdings, LLC. Council appointed Dan Hinton to fill a PAWS Advisory Board position for Blake Bain, who resigned. The term will expire in October 2026. Council approved the city counselor contract that was set to expire on April 30, 2026. The contract is for a three-year period, effective May 1, 2026. There are no material changes from the existing contract. Council awarded the bid of contractual mowing services for city nuisance lots and LCRA lots to Grow-N-Mow LLC in the amount of $3,500 monthly. The typical mowing season is from April through October. The payment for mowing services will be paid by the City of Sikeston and reimbursed by LCRA. Council awarded multiple bids for contractual mowing services for city-maintained properties. Those awarded bids were: Hampton Lawn Care – Armory Park, $75; Column Park, $60 Dewayne Taylor Mowing – Tanglewood Blvd. Median, $75 DLC&M – Allen Blvd. Median, $95; Broadway Median,$90; Central Park, $100; Clayton Park, $100; Davis Blvd. Median,$94; Dudley Park, $180; Emergency mowing, $75/hour; Industrial Park Retention Basins, $450; Lincoln Memorial Park, $225; Malone Park, $100; Malone Ave ROW East, $375; Malone Ave ROW Central/Legion Park, $300; Malone Ave ROW West, $375; Plantation Blvd Median, $110; R.S.
