Tequesta Council OKs Pool Deck Rules, Grassy Waters Grant

The Tequesta Village Council approved new regulations for swimming pool decking and authorized a grant application for the Grassy Waters Preserve during its May 9 meeting. Mayor Michael J. Riley presided.

Council members unanimously passed an ordinance on first reading that adds specific regulations for accessory decking and patio areas to the village's land development code. Council Member Amy L. Kirsch introduced the motion, seconded by Vice Mayor Karen L. Neal. The vote was 5-0.

In a separate action, the council unanimously adopted a resolution allowing the Village Manager to apply for and accept a Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant for the Grassy Waters Preserve Water Quality Improvement Project. Council Member T. Jay T. McCurry moved to adopt the resolution, with Council Member Michael R. Jones seconding.

Village officers provided updates during the meeting. The Village Manager reported on ongoing projects and programs. The Police Chief presented recent activities and crime statistics, and the Fire Chief outlined departmental operations, including response times and emergency preparedness.

The council adjourned at 7:45 p.m. There were no public comments or other business items.
