Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA)

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA) – St Jude Catholic Chuch Skip to content Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA) Home / Faith Formation / Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA) Goals and Purpose: To provide a period of structured inquiry for those adults interested in, or considering the possibility of, becoming Catholic. To lead and accompany adults into full membership in the Roman Catholic Church (for non-baptized persons, those baptized in another faith and baptized Catholics desiring First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation). The early stages of OCIA are known as the ‘inquiry’ phase. A non-Catholic engaging in this part of the process is not making a commitment to become Catholic. OCIA is for: 1) Those who are interested in becoming Catholic 2) Those who are considering the possibility of becoming Catholic, and want to learn more about the Catholic faith and teachings 3) Those who are baptized Catholics, however they have not yet received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation What to expect: We minister to adults, forming them in the Catholic faith. All participants seeking to receive sacraments agree to meet various requirements on this walk of faith toward becoming full members of the Catholic Church, which is customarily celebrated at an Easter Vigil. Schedule: Regular gatherings will be held most Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the St. Jude Parish Center. Please see the link/button to the gathering schedule below. Call or e-mail Julie Barrientos, Director of Religious Education & Youth Ministry if you wish to begin the formation ministry before regular gatherings begin. 561-743-6125 or [email protected] Registration Form Schedule 2026-2027

Marriage

Marriage – St Jude Catholic Chuch Skip to content Marriage Home / Sacraments / Marriage “There should be in the life of every married couple a continual building of the sacrament.” Mother Angelica The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant, which is more than a contract. The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. Besides the priesthood, there is no state in life that pleads for grace as demandingly as does marriage. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical act, appropriately held in a public liturgy at church. Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy. As the just-wed couple turn away from the altar, their souls are spiritually stronger, spiritually more beautiful than when they came to the altar a few moments earlier. Please note: Weddings at St. Jude Catholic Church must involve a registered parishioner or a relative of a registered parishioner, and must have a residence within the territorial boundaries of St. Jude Parish. St. Jude Catholic Church is not a suitable venue for destination weddings. Thank you for your understanding. Wedding Checklist: Formal meeting with a parish priest or deacon. Current Baptism Certificates with Notations for both the Bride and the Groom, newly issued within the last 4 months. Marriage License issued from the Clerk of Courts. Speak with Parish Secretary for a Schedule of Fees. Completion of Fully Engaged pre-marital inventory and meeting(s) with marriage mentor couple Attendance at a Marriage Retreat If there have been any previous marriages: Provide a Death Certificate or Provide an Annulment Decree For more information about getting married at St. Jude please contact Deacon Bob Rodriguez at (561) 743-6128

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick “He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two… They anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.” Mark 6:7, 13 The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick gives strength and support to anyone struggling with an illness. The healing that occurs in this sacrament of anointing is not necessarily physical healing. While we believe that physical healing can occur through the great power of God, the grace that is infused through this special sacrament is the reminder of the eternal presence of God in our human suffering. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that when the sick are anointed they should be “assisted by their pastor and the whole ecclesial community, which is invited to surround the sick in a special way through their prayers and fraternal attention” (1516). “Like all the sacraments the Anointing of the Sick is a liturgical and communal celebration…It is very fitting to celebrate it within the Eucharist” (1517). Anointing of the Sick is available by appointment. Please contact the parish offices to coordinate.
