Tequesta Church Publishes Godparent/Sponsor Guidelines
Tequesta residents can now access online guidelines for becoming a godparent or sponsor for sacraments. The local church published the requirements to assist families and individuals with sacramental preparation.

A reminder that City Hall, the Mary Esther Public Library and all City parks remain closed through Friday, October 9. City Hall’s phone line has a recorded message with emergency numbers. Help is still available through the contacts below. Evacuation. Okaloosa County has ordered a mandatory evacuation of Zones A and B, effective noon Thursday. The order includes portions of coastal Mary Esther. Find your zone by entering your address at https://myokaloosa.com/gis_ps. If you are in Zone A or B, please leave now while roads are clear. County shelters opened at 6 p.m. Thursday; the current shelter list and evacuation details are at https://myokaloosa.com/eoc/home. Who to call Life-threatening emergency: 911 Water or sewer emergency: Jacobs, 850-420-7324 (answered 24 hours) Power outage: Florida Power & Light, 1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243), the FPL app, or online. Please report your outage even if you think a neighbor already has. FPL’s Power Tracker map shows outages and restoration estimates. Downed power line: Stay far away. Call 911 or FPL at 1-800-468-8243. Gas smell or suspected leak: Leave the area first, then call 911 or Okaloosa Gas at 850-729-4700 (24 hours). Hypoluxo Hammock
Hypoluxo Hammock is located on the grounds of the Town Hall. It was designed with four goals in mind: Recreate the site as it would have looked 100 years ago to the Barefoot Mailman as he began his trek to Miami. Create a coastal hammock which was so common to this particular area before housing development and the introduction of so many exotic and destructive plant species. Use only native species that after an initial 6 month establishment period would require no further irrigation or fertilizer other than what nature provides. Incorporate a drainage design that would retain nearly 100% of the entire site's rain run-off. Hypoluxo Hammock was designed by Hypoluxo Town Councilman Mark Hull and Richard Moyroud of Mesozoic Landscapes. The park was dedicated on March 9, 1996.
