Tequesta Council Approves Stormwater, Fire Apparatus, Summer Fest

Mayor John O. Johnson called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Council Member Sarah Smith led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Village Manager Thomas Brown presented Ordinance 2024-05, which amends Section 42-3 of the Code of Ordinances related to stormwater management. Following public comment, the council unanimously approved the ordinance on its second reading. Council Member Smith moved for approval, seconded by Council Member Green.
Director of Public Works Michael Chen provided an update on the Maple Avenue sidewalk replacement project. Chen reported construction remains on schedule for an Aug. 15, 2024, completion, improving pedestrian safety and accessibility.
Fire Chief James Rodriguez presented Resolution 2024-12, authorizing the purchase of new fire apparatus. Council Member White moved to approve the resolution, seconded by Council Member Davis. The motion passed unanimously, enhancing the village's emergency response capabilities.
Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Brown requested a special event permit for the Annual Summer Festival, scheduled for July 20, 2024. Council Member Green moved to approve the permit, seconded by Council Member Smith. The motion carried unanimously, facilitating a community gathering.
The meeting concluded with brief comments from the Mayor and Council Members. Council Member Davis moved to adjourn, seconded by Council Member White. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
